I’ll be teaching a workshop called Bachata Roots where we’ll explore Bachata dancing as it may have been danced in its early days. This means we’ll be starting with Bolero and adding ideas to give it a new spark and to match the music along the way.

Are you ready for part 2? We’ll be exploring another beautiful space in the park — the riverside tent. This space boasts much of what the pavilion does, cover from rain, a cement patio for dancing, and a nearby playground, while also bringing new views of the river and a grassy space where you can roll out a blanket to enjoy the summer night.
Price: $20 with workshop, $10 social only. Food sold separately. Pay at the door. (FTLOB accepts cash, Venmo, and Zelle.)

Misc: public restrooms, two playgrounds, ample free parking, access via public transit, family friendly**, BYOB responsibly
**We do not charge for children, as 99% of the time, they are there so YOU can have fun! You are responsible for keeping your children safely away from the river, keeping an eye on the playground (if applicable), and helping them avoid running through the dance floor. We recommend bringing ear defenders for small children who may be sensitive to the loud music.

The For the Love of Bachata Summer Weekender!!
This weekend attracts Bachata lovers from near and far to our home in Pittsburgh, PA to dance, learn, and enjoy life. Areito Arts will be helping us develop our Roots of Bachata. As we learn the dances the shaped the genre (Bolero, Merengue, and Son Dominicano), our Bachata will get more creative and free!
Jessica will help tie it all together with her Roots of Bachata class, where we’ll take pieces of each of the dances to add to our Bachata. We’ll also take a look at how the music has evolved over the years to see how each step might inspire something different in our dancing.
